CHICAGO (Reuters) - Muscular young men are likely to have more sex partners than their less-chiseled peers, researchers at the University of California Los Angeles said on Monday.
Their study, published in the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, suggests muscles in men are akin to elaborate tail feathers in male peacocks: They attract females looking for a virile mate.
"Women are predisposed to prefer muscularity in men," said study author David Frederick of UCLA.
"Most research is focused on what men find physically attractive in women and the career traits women find attractive in men," Frederick said by telephone. "Much less research is devoted to what women find attractive."
He said prior studies concluded a man's desirability was influenced more by his earning potential and commitment. His study found physical characteristics mattered more.
Women were more physically attracted to brawny men, especially for a fling. But when it comes to finding a long-term partner, they tend to pick a regular man over a mate with huge biceps.
"On the one hand, it makes them more sexy to women. On the other hand, it makes women more suspicious about their romantic intentions," Frederick said.
He and colleagues interviewed 99 male undergraduates about their sexual histories. Muscular men were twice as likely to have had more than three sex partners than less-built types.
Frederick and colleagues also asked 141 college women to look at six standardized silhouettes of men ranging from brawny to slender. Most preferred a toned man who was more likely to commit over a muscle-bound man they perceived as more volatile, aggressive and dominant.

It's time to sign up for your Summer Vacation! The 10th Annual Leather Retreat is on and is going to be better than ever.
For those of you who have never been to camp ... please read on.
For the past nine years, a big group of friends have had a blast hosting Leather Retreat. As you may know, LR is primarily a play event. Lack of Women in Eastern Germany Feeds Neo-Nazis
A new study has found that many more women are leaving economically moribund Eastern Germany. The result is a new, frustrated and largely male underclass. And many of them find succor in the neo-Nazi scene.
The problem has been well known for years: Ever since the mid-1990s, young Eastern Germans have been fleeing the region due to a lack of economic opportunity, hoping to find jobs in the western part of the country. Some 1.5 million have already left the region – roughly 10 percent of the population of East Germany when the Berlin Wall fell. Even worse, most of those who leave are under 35 and many of them have above average education or training.
But according to a new study released by the Berlin Institute for Population and Development, there is another problem that accompanies the migration. Since 1991, more than two-thirds of all those who have left Eastern Germany have been women. The result is that in many towns in the region, there are simply not enough to go around – some places are missing up to 25 percent of their young women. Even worse, the young men who stay behind are often poorly educated, unemployed and frustrated – perfect fodder for neo-Nazi groups looking for members.
"In general," the study finds, "right-wing radical parties receive more votes in those areas where the most young women have left."
The reasons behind the mass migration from east to west are primarily economic. Despite some regional improvements, the economy in former East Germany continues to lag far behind that of Western Germany. Unemployment remains persistent and is well over 10 percent for those under 25 years of age. The fact that young women in the region tend to be better educated than the young men means that women have an easier time finding work in the west.
Even worse, the problem is unlikely to improve any time soon, the study finds. Already, Eastern Germany is missing some 100,000 babies that otherwise would have been born in the region had more young women stayed. The brain drain and the lack of offspring further erode the economy.

A gay gang that allegedly victims lured on the Internet, drugged them and infected them with the AIDS virus has shocked the Netherlands and raised questions over its liberal sex culture.
Health Minister Ab Klink on Thursday called the case "horrible", as the press splashed the news across its front pages.
The matter came to light Wednesday, when police said they had arrested three seropositive homosexual men two weeks ago after four victims, men aged 25 to 50, accused them of and premeditated bodily harm.
Ronald Zwarter, the police chief in the northern town of Groningen, where the alleged crimes took place, said two of those arrested, a couple aged 48 and 33, had confessed.
"Their stated motive was that it excited them -- and also that, the more HIV-infected people there were, the better their chances of unprotected sex," he said.
"They considered unprotected relations to be 'pure'."
A fourth man who allegedly supplied the three suspects with several litres of the date- drug GHB and ecstasy tablets was also arrested.
The gang risks up to 16 years in prison.
According to police and prosecutors, eight more victims have come forward since the case was publicised.
Officials said the three seropositive men invited gays contacted on the Internet to private homosexual orgies.
When the victims turned up, they were allegedly given ecstasy and GBH (which is undetectable when mixed in drinks), leaving them helpless and, in some cases, with no memory of what happened.
The three suspects -- one of whom is a male nurse -- were said to have the men, and even injected some of them with a mix of their contaminated blood.
The case has deeply unsettled the Netherlands, and caused it to cast a hard look at its easygoing views on sex, with some figures suggesting that frequent homosexual orgies posed a public health risk.
"That homos organise orgies is nothing new, but this is something else. This is unimaginable," said Frank van Dalen, the president of a gay rights group called COC.
He stressed that the illegal use of GHB (gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid) -- known on the street by such nicknames as "Easy Lay, "Gay Home Boy" and "Liquid Ecstasy" -- also posed a danger in heterosexual circles.
Said Henk Krol, the editor of a homosexual magazine titled Gaykrant: "These people were drugged, it's therefore , pure and simple. It's shameful, disgusting and terrifying. Those who did this are crazy."
Health officials pointed to a recent rise in the number of HIV infections in Groningen -- from 14 in 2005 to 25 last year, out of the town's total population of 185,000 -- as significant.
"This doesn't mean that the rise is entirely explained by the orgies... but it's probable that part of the rise has been caused by them," Marco Ter Harmsel, of Grongingen's municipal health service, told the Dutch newspaper DRC.

Had a good time at Diamond Club this Friday. I caught up with a friend I have not seen in a while but she had to leave early. She had to pick up the early. I was planning staying over night but I got a text from the warden that she had to go to work and our oldest who does the sitting for the two youngest before we exchange between us, he had detention Saturday morning for wearing a necklace that had a medallion that was shaped like a marijuana leaf in school. So I get a text at 11:30pm, “You have to pick up the by 7:30am.”
Well, that scrapped for any after parties I was invited to, so at 1:30am I hopped into my car and headed south on I-95 to the Commonwealth.
No later than 10 minutes in the car, I get two separate text messages from two fine ladies stating, “What is your room number?”

Had a great time at and after the Fire House this past Friday and did something that I have not had since the Taj closed. I was at a nice afterparty at the Best Western with old and new friends. Oh those cheesy rooms bring back memories.

We are use to it. It’s the mating game even in the lifestyle. This Easter weekend my sister's family was coming in on Friday. So I took Thursday and Friday off to clean the house. I was preparing Easter dinner, etc. Bascially no playtime at all, which was cool. The dirty little secret of the couples and bi-female-only clubs is that single males (SM) do get into these clubs; but they are friends of the management. Or these single males also pay the big bucks to get in, so these clubs are more profitable.
Now you may wonder why more SMs don't go to these clubs? It's NOT cost-effective for the SM. Unless you're a GQ/Playgirl centerfold, 10" hung-type and not an ass; you going to get some play at these lifestyle clubs. But then again these GQ/Playgirl centerfold, 10" hung-types can get play at any type of club or bar. Why pay up $200 to get into these clubs? Now for we SM who are not GQ/Playgirl centerfold, 10" hung-types, or me, who has been hit with an ugly stick, getting laid is hard work.
We have to be on our best behavior. When we do play at these clubs, we have to perform. Why? We are a-dime-a dozen, and the bi females are the so-called unicorns. Which of the two can get away with bad or disappointing behavior? The SM or the unicorn? hmmm?
For me it's not cost-effective. I have more fun during and after parties at a M&G than in any lifestyle club I've been to. (The one exception is a club that does allow a number of SMs) Nor do I have to pay $200 just to get through the doors. Hell, I have more fun and can get moreplay in some vanilla clubs and bars, than in a lifestyle club. Just last night, I was propositioned by a fine young lady in a vanilla bar who said I could take her home for $150.
My female date for the APG Mardi Gras party, which did allow single males, made a point in that the female half of couples are there for other females. The male halves of those couples are even lucky that they're getting any play. Why? It's simple...if they want dick, they have one at home, but when they go out, their female half wants pussy. Hence, these couples will shun all males (even their hubbies) and start searching for that unicorn. Unless of course you are that GQ/Playgirl centerfold, 10" hung-type, that kind of dick is NOT at home...LOL.
My only suggestion for these clubs to have a singles night. Allow an even ratio of females to males into the club, including men registering from APG. It's all right that males pay more, but it's not acceptable at outragous prices. Vanilla clubs do this too. Couples can come in, but they do not get a break in the price. The only break is that they get in right away. Yes, there will be more males showing up....but the early bird gets in, others wait until a female shows up. But this will NEVER happen because these clubs want to charge $100-$200 per SM, and often it's under-the-table payment.
So you unicorns and females of couples who want some dick for the night, may I suggest a nice vanilla dance club or bar? The guys will come to you and might be interested in playing with a couple (I was picked up by a couple at a vanilla bar). A nice M&G would be good too.
BTW- I did not take the sweet young lady's offer because I was going off to one of my very nice, penis friendly, female friends for the night. I do have some standards........okay I knew I was going to get some anyway. LOL.
