How We Are Failing Our Students
How We Are Failing Our Students When only states in the nation require sex education be medically accur a lot is left interpretation in teenage health literacy. Research published by the Public Library of ScienceExternal linkpen_in_new shows that when sex education is comprehensive, students feel more informed, make safer choices and have healthier outcomes — resulting in fewer unplanned pregnancies and more protection against sexually transmitted diseases and infection. “Sex education is about life skills,” said Elizabeth Nash, senior state issues manager at the Guttmacher Institute External linkpen_in_new. “There are so many aspects you take with you for the rest of your life, but you only get it once or twice in school.” Of course many young students pick sexual health information from sources other than school — parents, peers, medical professionals, social media and pop culture. However, public schools are the best opportunity for adolescents access formal information. So what happens when that information isn’t regulated by the state? I dont see the chart and look at where you are posting it. You aren't exactly in the most sexually conservative place. There are plenty of people who had kids and taught them safe and deviant things and then others that only joined when they were older and the kids are already adults. It like they say, you are preaching to the choir

The public school education in america is absolutely awful, at best. And, the sex ed programs all vary from district to district, city to city. I've heard countless stories from friends and family over the years about the insanity of some of these sex ed programs. Not only are some programs only teach abstinence while some others teach things that are flat-out wrong and also are effing dangerous and hazardous to the kids health. I am personally of the opinion that the more information a person is given about any subject the better decisions can be made about that subject. Education is the key to the betterment of humanity.
