Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house....

It was complete madness.

Boss #1 was back work yesterday. I realized when he and I were in my office that I'd kind of missed his crazy, mood-swinging ass.

It's not going be the same if, and when, he does retire.

I'd planned on working all day, like usual, yesterday, when I ended up in the Dynamic Boss Duo's office.

When they asked me if I'd like leave early, I excitedly jumped at the chance.

This is the first year the are actually splitting their time between both my house and my Ex-Husband's house, so I wanted be able spend as much time with them as possible.

And, for me, that ended up being Christmas Eve.

We stayed up past midnight so they could open their presents on Christmas day.

There we were... 1 o'clock in the morning on Christmas Day, opening presents, drinking sparkling cider, and eating cheesecake.

I may not be the conventional Mom, the mom who cooks and sews and spends her free time wrapped up in PTO activities and book clubs....

But I am their Mom and a fun mom in my own way.

Now they are off to their Dad's and I am left here to clean up the mess.....

And make Christmas lasagna.

Because, you guessed it, they're coming back to my place tonight.

It's a fantastic thing, having a who can drive.

You are no longer necessary truck their little asses all over town. They happily do it themselves!

And so that's it.... Another Christmas under the belt.

Another year nearly behind ....

Hope you all have a fantastic day.

    Hi secret_lade

    thanks for sharing

I got to see all of my peeps yesterday

    so much fun

quality time is more important than quantity

    memories that will live forever

I see that in my children, and grandkids

they don't understand the pressures of raising "a family", they'll have plenty of time for that later

    you're a good egg

    hmm

Jim Croce - "Photographs And Memories"

    Photographs and memories
Christmas cards you sent to me
All that I have are these
    To remember you
    Memories that come at night
    Take me to another time
    Back to a happier day
    When I called you mine
But we sure had a good time
When we started way back when
    Morning walks and bedroom talks
Oh how I loved you then
    Summer skies and lullabies
    Nights we couldn't say good-bye
And of all of the things that we knew
    Not a dream survived
I have always loved this song. ❤❤❤ My oldest son came over before the younger 2 got back. It was nice to have some time, just him and I.

You may not be the conventional mom, but you're their mom...and you love them, and show it. That's what they'll remember and treasure.
    Merry Christmas!

Lol. It was too big, too much, we couldn't eat it all. And, by day 3. I said to myself... I'm never eating turkey again.

I make lasagna more often than just holidays. LOL This is the fancy lasagna that I make entirely from scratch, even the sauce. I'm a non-traditionalist when it comes to holiday food. It's just the kids and I, when I made that turkey for thanksgiving, half of it got thrown out.
