You Became Numb. A Poem

I tried to get
You to care
But you lost
That ability.
Not sure when
Being numb
Became your
Modus operandi
But it happened.
And I am not the one
Who can reverse it.
I do not possess
The tools
Or the explosives
To jar you from
Your present inclination.

Should I hold out hope
That the universe
Will do what I can't do?
I just wish people
Were not so cavalier
When it came
To connecting
And matters of the heart.
