50 Shades of Grey, oh no

Well, the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ craze has finally entered the walls of our home. My wife, while out of town for business recently, purchased the trio at the airport while waiting for her plane. I was a tad bit surprised at her choice. Normally, it’s the typical romance novel by Nora Roberts, whom she reads a lot of while away, so her choice of a trilogy about sex was off kilter for her.

“It’s just mommy porn,” she declared, when asked why she bought it.

Granted, I don’t think I would read it, and certainly wouldn’t buy, but I can’t help but to wonder if she’s curious about the craze the book has to offer, or the sex detailed within. According to the reviews on Amazon it got mixed. The best quote, ‘you will either love it or hate it.’

Easy enough.

Martel Maxwell of the Huffington Post, as well as a publisher herself of erotica, wrote an interesting review about the trilogy.
“On this note, couples looking spice things up on holiday should make Fifty Shades compulsory reading.”So, I wonder if my wife is feeding a deeper interest in domination and submission based on our sex life. Could she be doing research herself, maybe interested in other activities other than cuckolding?

Amy Odell of BuzzFeed spoke with Anna North from Newsweek about 50 Shades, indicating the underlining of the book encourages women in making sexual decisions and wants for themselves, instead of society making it for them.
“I do think that pop culture and also porn have gotten very good at satisfying the fantasies of men, and they have not paid much attention to the sexual fantasies of women.”
Regardless of your stance on it, like it or hate it, it appears to be controversial. I agree with empowerment, and think women should have the same norms as men do in society when it comes to sex.
Anna goes on to say, “A lot of women don't have the balls to voice their sexual desires at all with their partners. A lot probably don’t even know how – or realize they’re not."
Surveys and questionnaires indicate men are attracted to confident women. So why is society is not embracing it? And, seemingly behind closed doors, its men who are intimidated by a lady who knows what she wants, what she likes, and knows what pleases her, ‘kinky’ or not.

But back to Mrs. evergreenstatewife and that Grey thing; it’s something I will revisit with her after awhile, giving her a chance to read some chapters and draw her own conclusions to.

It could be interesting.

Red loved the books, where I didn't... but then I stopped reading at page 200... too early my Red says...
Red also says it is more of a romance... the promised BDSM is next to non-existent... except for talking about the "Red Room" as they call it.
So I must agree with you... it must be Mommy Porn....

I'm not sure I'll read it, but can certainly agree with the mind and women, and the differences with men.

I read the trilogy, and yes, the popular vernacular is "mommy porn". Everyone seems to get something different from it, but as I write myself, I found it totally appalling as the writing was amateur, the plot was predictable, and...it was really difficult to get through the third book. But that's just my opinion! We did have to laugh, though, because approximately 40 weeks after it hit the NYTimes Best Seller list, there was a noticeable increase in births for the next few months. And, hardware stores couldn't keep rope on the shelves.
That was a constant. The writing, and how at times it appeared very amateur. Who knows, maube she'll like it? Rope huh? Ohh.., boy.. lol
