I always enjoyed the smell of a freshly cut Christmas tree. It appears that most people use fake trees now.

Do you like the chocolate covered ones??
Actually, I don’t. They look a lot like Tim Horton’s ‘chocolate dipped ones’ which are my daughter’s favourite.

Yes, growing up we always had a real tree 🌲. My parents had a ‘secret’ mixture they used in the tree stand. It was a pain to check once the tree was fully decorated! Thanks for dropping by and commenting.

My mother's cedar chest - almost every family had one to keep sweaters and other woolens "away" from moths - at least that was the stated reason.

I certainly understand that! I remember my great-grandmother’s and grandmother’s. I have my Mother’s and it’s filled with blankets and afghans. Nice to see you dropping by. Merry Christmas 🎄.

It's already listed, but a box of pencils always takes me back to the first day of school. Mind you, it isn't necessarily a fond memory, but is a strong memory that hits when I open a box of pencils used or unused.

Given your artistic talents, I thought it might have been a fond memory of the beginning of the development of your skills. Nice to see you stop by and comment.

Glad you enjoyed it and it tweaked those wonderful memories. It’s amazing how smells can be imprinted in our psyche and stay with us forever. Thanks for stopping and commenting.

Mom usually had a pine scented candle burning all Christmas day. But the scent that aways transports me back is White Shoulders. Sometimes I wonder if those days even occurred or did I dream them. An old perfume but on the right woman, it lifts me off my feet and floats me off into dream land. (It is one of those perfumes that requires the right body oil to achieve it greatest effect.)

Cologne or perfume seems to have an ever-lasting effect. I know, my Grandmother and Mother had their 'special' ones which I could recognize with my eyes closed. I took over my parent's house after they both passed and I can still smell my Dad's whenever I open the medicine cabinet and he's been gone since 2005.

Cuban cigars - is that from your dad?

I can still sniff out crayons and play-doh in less time than it takes for New Yorkers to blow the horn when the lite turn red - LOL ...

For me, the smell of water when it first gets release from a fire hydrant. We used to turn them on and play for hours - good memories! Thank you ...

In Luv, Lite, Laffter ...

No, my grandfather smoked cigars and a pipe. I can still picture the cigar box and the tobacco pouch. He also liked 'scotch mints' and always had a couple tucked into his pocket.
It's funny how some 'smells' stick with us for a lifetime. Nice to see you back and commenting

I do too. I have my Mother's cedar chest and 'keep sake' box and the cedar smell has barely faded. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

You can buy cedar oil and re-moisturize your chest or even paneling. I always put a piece of cedar in the birdhouses I make and make sure they are drenched in oil. It is not all the cheap to purchase but it sure does smell good and keeps the bugs away.

Cedar has an unmistakable scent that seems to last forever.

Thank you and for stopping by. You didn’t answer the question. Is there an odour or scent that when you smell it, reminds you of your childhood?
