Puzzled by Acronyms - Mystery Solved TLA - Three Letter Acronym

TLA's (three letter acronyms).
A correspondent asked me:
What do the following mean? LOL, LTR, NSA ...

NSA No strings attached.
LTR Long Term Relationship.
LOL Lots of laughter.
ROFL Roll on the floor laughing.

Most of the shortcut are used in texting. If you've ever tried texting on a mobile phone you'll find it takes ages.

I've just realised that the reason why you get so many of these shortcut one liners is that many dating websites are now sending their customers emails to a mobile phone. So the customers are replying from a mobile phone.

There should be an acronym for Sorry about Acronyms. Answering From Mobile phone. SAFM. I've just invented that one. You heard it here. From

If you are ever puzzled, go onto the internet and type in the mystery initials and dictionary or acronym. If you don't type in the word acronym first you get hundreds of local community societies and government bodies using the same acronyms.

Any more? Your favourites or a list or reference to some websites welcomed.

I'm looking for LTR and don't reply to people who say NSA.

Ah - but what do these phrases imply?

GSOH is Good sense of humour. The G seems unnecessary. I've never heard of anybody claiming a bad sense of humour.

A handy one for shortening profiles and straplines is
